This is a walk-in shower I rebuilt in a Stellenbosch home. The old one was tired, and the owners wanted something open and easy to step into.
1. Stripped
The old wall tiles came off, back to the bare wall, so I could see what was behind them before anything new went on.
2. Rebuilt
New white bevelled tiles from floor to ceiling, a pebble mosaic floor laid to fall towards the drain, and a built-in bench seat.
3. Finished
Rain shower heads fitted and a frameless glass screen in place of a door, so there is nothing to step over.
A shower like this is waterproofing, tiling, glass and plumbing in one small space. I do the waterproofing, tiling and finishing myself, and a registered plumber handles any new pipework, so the joints line up and the floor drains the way it should.

Older homes need a careful hand
Many houses in and around the old town have thick walls, timber floors, sash windows and high ceilings that deserve to be repaired, not ripped out. I take the time to match what is there. If your house is in the historic part of town, check with the municipality before changing anything on the outside, because some changes need approval.
Oak leaves and winter rain
The oaks fill gutters every autumn, and blocked gutters overflow into roof spaces and down walls as soon as the winter rain starts. A gutter clean and a roof check in autumn is one of the cheapest jobs I do and saves some of the most expensive ones.
Newer estates
Estates such as De Zalze and Welgevonden have their own rules on contractor access, working hours and finishes. Tell me the estate when you call and I will work within them.
